With everything that’s going on at the moment in the world, the days can start to feel like they are blending in to one. One of the ways I am trying to stop this feeling is having lists of things I want to do. Making lists like this can give you a real sense of accomplishment because as you cross things off, you can see your progress, which can have a really positive effect on your mindset. So I’m going to talk about some of the lists I’ve got on the go at the moment, to maybe start giving people ideas of what they could make lists for.
The first list I want to talk about is a personal favourite of mine, which is my list of projects that I’ve started for myself. I started the list before the lockdown began, but it’s something that has gained much more significance since it begun. The projects that I have on it at the moment range from teaching myself a little bit of British Sign Language, to teaching myself to do some origami, to learning to spin pass a rugby ball with my left hand. They don’t have to fit any pattern to be on this list, which is a nice aspect to this particular list.
The next list I want to talk about is my unseen films list. What I did to create this was go through the streaming services I have access to, and find any films that I haven’t seen that I really wanted to see. I limit myself to only watching one of these at the most on any given day, just so I don’t fall into bad habits, but having a list of these films as a reminder to myself means that I don’t waste my time watching films that I don’t really want to see.
As a little bonus one before I talk about the last list I have I wanted to give a quick mention to the list I have of TV series, because it is basically the same as my film list, but is just as satisfying.
The final list I want to talk about is my list of books that I want to read. This list is there to help me stay focused on reading the books that I have real interest in reading first, so that I’m not just picking random books to fill the time. I love this list because I am a bit of a sucker for buying new books that look interesting to me, and if I’m not careful I will read the newer one before an older one, which means I never get round to the older one.
Crossing anything off any one of these lists gives me an immense sense of joy and accomplishment, which then encourages me to carry on crossing things off.
Thank you for listening, and yet again, this is Conor, signing off
